My Dearest Children,

I am writing to you today with a heavy heart. I am writing to you about racism, a cancer that has plagued our society for far too long.

I know that you are still young, but I want you to understand the importance of standing up against racism in all its forms. Racism is not just about hate and violence. It is also about the subtle ways that people are treated differently because of their race.

I have seen racism in my own life. I have seen it in the way that people have treated me and my family. I have seen it in the way that people have talked about other people of color.

Racism is wrong. It is harmful. It is something that we must all fight against.

I know that you will face racism in your own lives. I cannot protect you from it, but I can teach you how to stand up to it.

Here are a few things that you can do:

  • Speak out against racism. When you see or hear someone say something racist, don't be afraid to speak up. Tell them that their words are hurtful and that racism is wrong.
  • Be an ally to people of color. Stand up for people who are being treated unfairly because of their race. Let them know that you are there for them.
  • Educate yourself about racism. Learn about the history of racism in our country and the ways that it continues to affect people today. The more you know about racism, the better equipped you will be to fight against it.

I know that fighting racism will not be easy. But it is important work. It is work that we must all do if we want to create a more just and equitable world.

I am proud of the people that you are becoming. I know that you will make a difference in the world. I know that you will stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult.

I love you more than words can say.

Your Mother
