Beat3 is a trick-taking card game for 3 or 4 players. The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The goal of the game is to be the first player to reach 1000 points.

Setup

To set up the game, shuffle the deck and deal 13 cards to each player. The remaining cards are placed in a pile in the center of the table.

Gameplay

The player to the left of the dealer leads with any card. The other players must then play a card of the same suit if possible. If a player cannot play a card of the same suit, they may play any card.

The highest card of the suit led wins the trick. If two or more players play the same card, the player who played the card first wins the trick.

The player who wins the trick collects the cards and places them face down in a pile in front of them. The player who won the trick then leads the next trick.

Scoring

At the end of each trick, the player who won the trick scores points based on the cards they won.

Ace: 1 point
King: 3 points
Queen: 2 points
Jack: 1 point
10: 1 point
Other cards: 0 points

The first player to reach 1000 points wins the game.

Variations

There are many variations of Beat3. Some of the most common variations include:

No Trump: In this variation, there is no trump suit. All suits are equal.
One Trump: In this variation, one suit is designated as the trump suit. The trump suit is always higher than the other suits.
Two Trump: In this variation, two suits are designated as the trump suits. The two trump suits are always higher than the other suits.
Three Trump: In this variation, three suits are designated as the trump suits. The three trump suits are always higher than the other suit.
